Organization of Danish Medical Societies

The Organization of Danish Medical Societies (LVS) organizes 125 scientific societies within the field of medicine in Denmark. The total membership of these societies is 25.000 predominantly medically qualified persons.

The general aim of the Society is to promote the interests of the member societies.

It arranges an annual meeting with a scientific topic of general interest, and it provides financial support for scientific meetings arranged by the member societies.

LVS conveys the attitudes and scientific knowledge to authorities and organizations on behalf of the member societies. And is offers counselling to such bodies.

The Society is engaged in post gradual medical education, and the development of good clinical quality in the Danish health care system.

LVS is represented in a number of boards, comities and working groups with relation to medical research, education and clinical practice.

The Society awards annually  The Marie & August Krogh Prize to a Danish scientist.
